The Brit singer is clearly devastated but is taking every precautionary measure to ensure her voice is not damaged long-term.
From her website:
“If I continue to pick up everything before I have properly conquered these problems and nipped them in the bud, I will be totally and utterly fu**ed. Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever.”
Adele is dealing with a vocal hemorrhage and it normally doesn’t take this long to heal. However, compounded with multiple other throat issues, it can take awhile.
Steven Tyler underwent surgery in 2006 after he dealt with the same type of injuries Adele is experiencing now and he recovered just fine.
Tyler’s doctor, Steven Zeitels, is not only a Harvard professor but he’s also a director at the Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation at Massachusetts General Hospital.
According to Zeitels, “It’s very fixable, basically. This is not something that’s a deal breaker, even remotely.”
Well that’s good news for Adele fans in the US, who have been patiently waiting for her tour.
She had only played a few dates when she was forced to cancel the rest of her US tour when these throat issues cropped up.
Adele insists that her throat problems are not a result of smoking cigarettes.
