Her doctors feared it might come to this. Adele’s throat and vocal cords are so badly damaged that the Brit singer requires surgery.

Last week we reported that Adele, the Top Selling Artist of 2011, would be put on the shelf until 2012 so her voice can fully recover.
She said on her website:
“If I continue to pick up everything before I have properly conquered these problems and nipped them in the bud, I will be totally and utterly fu**ed. Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever.”
Ample rest was thought to have been the simple remedy for her. However, her throat is damaged so much that it requires surgery.
Her representatives said on her behalf:
“It is with deep regret that [Adele] has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011. She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler had basically the same surgery back in 2006 after going through what Adele is experiencing now. The good news for her is that her condition is very treatable.
Tyler’s doctor, Dr. Steven Zeitels, said “It’s very fixable, basically. This is not something that’s a deal breaker, even remotely.”
