Coldplay have announced that “Charlie Brown” will be the next single off Mylo Xyloto, with a music video likely on the way soon. Do you think the song is good enough to warrant a single?

The new single comes along with the band’s announcement of a massive North American tour in 2012, split between concert dates in the U.K.

“Charlie Brown” has some tough acts to follow with the first two singles off Mylo Xyloto, “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” and “Paradise,” both of which earned Grammy Award nominations.

The song is widely considered a standout on the new album, hence its release as a single. A press release from the band cites “Jonny Buckland’s sticky, uplifting guitar work” as the driving force of the track, and this writer tends to agree.

It definitely makes the most sense as the next single. I hope they eventually release “A Hopeful Transmission + Don’t Let it Break Your Heart” as one, but I don’t think they will.

That would also be a good single, but I’m going to predict “Hurts Like Heaven” as the next one after this.

I would think that that would be the single after Charlie Brown too, but knowing Coldplay they’re due to pick one of the slow songs, probably Us Against the World as the next single. I just have a feeling that’s what they’ll do. But then again, Princess of China could be an obvious choice since it’ll get tons of downloads.
