This past Sunday, my husband Craig reached a goal that he has been working towards for quite a while now. He particpated in the Ironman 70.3 Timberman in Gilford, New Hampshire. This was quite an accomplishment, and my children, Grace, Charlotte, CJ and I couldn’t be more proud of him. This was a 1.2 mile swim, then a 56 mile bike ride followed by and ending with a half marathon. Craig is one who is always challenging himself and pushing himself to do better in everything he does, and that is one of the qualities I continue to admire in him.  He began his training late last fall. Craig has always been a runner, so he was comfortable with that area, however, not after swimming and biking. Swimming was not a strong area for Craig, so he’s been taking swimming lessons, for almost a year. Biking was a challenge he looked forward to. With a demanding job, and three children, time for training has not been his friend. He never sacrificed time with his family, so 4:00 am bike rides and workouts were the normal routine for Craig. My kids loved being included in Craig’s workouts, so we like to say this was a team effort! Craig was hoping for a 6 hour finish, and many a sleepless night this time kept him up. Craig crossed the finish line in 5 hours and 24 minutes! All of us were in tears at the finish line, with pride and joy. He finished 318 out of 2,000 and top third of his age group. There is no better feeling as a wife, to see a goal achieved by your husband, when you see first-hand when they work so hard. He has also shown and modeled hard work for our children. Today, I am grateful and overwhelmed with pride. Nice job, Hardy!
