The 2012 edition of the annual list of the most dangerous toys for children is out, just in time for the beginning of holiday shopping season. It should surprise no parents that some of these things aren’t safe for kids, but apparently they need to be reminded.

World Against Toys Causing Harm (W.A.T.C.H.) released the list on, where you will find the usual culprits like toy guns and swords. Because for some reason parents still buy toy weapons.

Speaking of which, what else do we need to do with “Hulk Hands” besides look at them to know they’re dangerous? When the whole point of the toy is to use it to punch other kids, you’re just asking for little Joey to get a concussion.

And apparently parents have also purchased the Power Rangers Shogun helmet, which has five large horns pointing out the top of it. Tell me how any kid on Earth isn’t going to knock someone’s eye out with that. The thought that any parent would willingly put that on a kid’s head is just mind-numbing.

This isn’t a knock on W.A.T.C.H. or the toy manufacturers. This is for the parents. It’s a generally accepted rule that kids are idiots, so why would we give them anything remotely dangerous to play with? Perhaps a bouncy ball just doesn’t do it for kids anymore.

“Make sure there are no small parts, long cords, sharp edges, other types of hazards,” Jim Swartz of W.A.T.C.H warned in reference to the list. Again it’s astonishing that parents even need to be told this. Hopefully you’re not one of them.

Now that I think of it…Small parts? That would rule these toys out too, right?

Yeah, better just go with the bouncy ball.
