Matt is kicking off the New Year with a new EP! The acclaimed singer/songwriter’s Forever EP, scheduled for a February 12th release, will accompany a major U.S. tour alongside Matchbox Twenty, set to get underway March 1st in Augusta, ME. The EP’s first single “Restless Heart” is available now, give it a listen below:

The Forever EP will prelude the Tampa-based artist’s upcoming sophomore album, This World Won’t Last Forever, But Tonight We Can Pretend, scheduled for release later this year. For up-to-date tour information, please visit

Produced by Eric Rosse (Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles), songs like “Restless Heart” and “Forever” showcase Hires’ skillful vocal work and artistic uniqueness.

“My favorite artists are the ones who keep making records that give you something different from what came before, but still hold onto their own unique sound overall,” says Hires in a press release. “With this album, I pushed into the direction of making music that’s more fun and pop-oriented but also retains that sense of honesty that I’ve always valued as a songwriter.”

Hires has devoted the majority of the past three years on the road, headlining countless shows as well as touring with Paolo Nutini, Marc Broussard, Eric Hutchinson, O.A.R. and NeedtoBreathe. Matt last visited our studios on February 7, 2011, performing in front of a select group of Mix staffers promoting his Live Sessions EP. Check out pictures from the event here!
