It’s not everyday you get to be in the presence of music legends, legends that have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. But for the thousands of lucky MixFest attendees, they’ll have memories to last a lifetime after the Backstreet Boys rocked the house Saturday afternoon at the Hatch Shell for MixFest 2013.
Backstage before the performance, the 5 members of the iconic boy band sat down with the Karson and Kennedy morning show and (jokingly) admitted the only reason they’re still touring is so they can buy new shoes whenever they want. Whatever their reason for getting back on the road, the packed crowd was all too ready to sing along to their childhood soundtrack, dancing to the rhythm of “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and “I Want It That Way.”
The Boys also played their new song “In A World Like This,” and based on the reaction from the crowd you’d think it was off one of their multi-platinum albums from the late 1990’s. Whether old or new, fans of the Backstreet Boys are just happy to see them back on stage doing their thing.
After seeing the droves of gorgeous Boston women in the audience, AJ McLean, a Florida native, said he’s ready to start looking for real estate in the area and that “The Backstreet Boys love Boston.”
To which I say, how can you not?
