Have you heard of Meghan Trainor? If you haven’t, you’ll most likely be familiar with her very soon.

Trainor is a local Massachusetts singer/songwriter who hails from Nantucket and Cape Cod and just recently inked a deal with Epic Records.

Her song All About That Bass has skyrocketed in sales over the past three weeks – from 127th two weeks ago to 39th last week and breaching the top 20 this week at number 18 according to Nielsen Soundscan.

“I’m all about that bass ’bout that bass, no treble,” sings Trainor in her debut hit that tackles body image stereotypes set by Hollywood and Madison Avenue.

All About That Bass is a surprising summer pop hit that seemingly came out of nowhere.

“It’s been a long time since we saw a song move as fast as this one is,” says Mix 104.1 music director Mike Mullaney. “It’s gone from ‘Who is Meghan Trainor?’ to almost #1 on the chart.”

Meghan Trainor has said in a number of interviews that it’s her mission to bring the booty back. “Yeah, it’s pretty clear, I ain’t no size two. But I can shake it, shake it, like I’m supposed to do!” Trainor sings.

We think the song is catchy, and definitely a good fit for the Mix playlist. Plus, it’s always a plus when a local girl does good! Tell us what you think! Would you like to hear more of Meghan on Mix 104.1?
