Gavin DeGraw is no stranger to this radio station. In fact, we prefer to count Gavin among our closest friends here at Mix 104.1.
We’ve been cheerleaders for his career since early on. He’s played countless Mix Lounges and a couple of MixFest dates for us over the years, and now we’re learning he’s about to release his first greatest hits album entitled Finest Hour: The Best of Gavin DeGraw.
The first single to emerge from his greatest hits collection is called Fire, and it’s simply vintage Gavin.
“This is a song was written by some Swedish guys, but it’s produced by Max Martin and Shellback,” says Mix 104.1 Music Director Mike Mullaney. “These are the guys that are behind every hit song now – the new Taylor Swift – the same thing. It’s a pop songwriting team that has done very well.”
“It’s a catchy little number, Gavin over the years was just writing himself, but he found when started collaborating with folks – the first time he did that successfully was with Not Over You where he wrote with Ryan Tedder – collaborative writing gives you a new perspective on things,” said Mullaney.
While Finest Hour encompasses many of DeGraw’s largest hits – Not Over You, Chariot, and I Don’t Wanna Be in addition to Fire – the album will also bring us a handful of new tracks, including a previously unreleased version of Finest Hour that was produced by Ryan Tedder. There are also tracks co-written by One Direction’s Harry Styles as well as one written by Diane Warren.
Gavin’s greatest hits collection is set to hit stores on October 20th.
