There’s so much 90’s news today that we don’t even know where to begin. Eenie, meenie, miney, CLUELESS.
Clueless: The Musical
Having a bad day? No need for retail therapy. We’ve got Clueless news! Unlike 90’s staples Saved By The Bell and Full House, news about Clueless has been sporadic, if not nonexistent over the past two decades. If you were to ask us if we thought a Clueless musical would ever get made, we’d probably say that the chances were slim to none.
Well this morning, just like with a good makeover, everything has changed! Entertainment Tonight confirmed that plans for Clueless: The Musical are well underway! The movie’s director, Amy Hecklering, revealed her progress on the Broadway project, saying “I’ve written the, what they call the book and it’s a jukebox musical.”
Not only is the movie’s original director involved, but the stage production itself is also in good hands. Kristin Hanggi, the director of Broadway’s Rock of Ages, is set to direct the play. And Dodger Theatricals, the company that brought us Jersey Boys, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and the original Broadway run of Into the Woods, is set to produce.
Hecklering admitted, “Well casting — that’s like going to be like the main problem.” Note her use of “like”.
I’m personally hoping that the play somehow incorporates the movie’s score into the musical numbers, because the soundtrack to Clueless is stellar. I’m seriously surprised that my cassette could handle the amount of rewinds it did.
‘Sweet Valley High’ May Return to Class
If you didn’t the watch 90’s television series, then you probably at least read the books. Sweet Valley High was a staple of my childhood, and if it returns to television, I will definitely tune in. Especially if the original sisters are in it!
In a recent interview with E!, Brittany Daniel, who played sister Jessica Wakefield on Sweet Valley High, talked about a possible reboot of the show coming to TV. Wakefield said, “There is some talk right now. We’re actually going to have some conversations with Francine (the author of the books). That series means so much to my sister and I and we want to bring that to our kids and the next generation. So it’s only natural for us to want to bring it back.”
Imagine a world where Full House and Sweet Valley High both make a comeback?
Hope for ‘Hocus Pocus’ 2!
Rumors have been swirling about a Hocus Pocus sequel ever since Bette Midler did a reddit AMA last November. After the supreme Sanderson witch showed her support of the idea, her sisters Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy immediately followed suit. Unfortunately, nothing has actually been confirmed about the sequel, but with all three actresses on board, fans have hope that the Sanderson sisters will touch hallowed ground in Salem again one day.
This week, Midler raised the supernatural stakes by using her first tour in a decade as a way to spotlight the sequel idea. Midler dressed up in full costume against a Salem-inspired backdrop and performed “I Put A Spell On You”. She even went as far as saying “I’m ready for my sequel, Mr. Disney!”

Fingers crossed for all three of these 90’s revivals to happen, but we’d be happy with just one!
