NKOTB’s Joey McIntyre and Donnie Wahlberg to Star In New Pop TV Series

by Alisha Jackson

With six seasons of Blue Bloods and Wahlburgers under Donnie Wahlberg‘s belt, it’s about time New Kids On The Block‘s Joey McIntyre get some screen time for fans to fawn over.

Unfortunately, Joey’s CBS sitcom The McCarthys ended up being pulled from the schedule after only 11 of their 15 episodes aired, and subsequently ended up getting cancelled. But no need to fret, as Joey will soon be on your television screen again, and this time, he’ll be playing himself!

Although The Joey Mac Project revolves around a “grown-up boy band member and actor who seeks his next showbiz gig after NKOTB’s latest sold out tour,” the comedy series is scripted. Starring alongside his NKOTB partner in crime Donnie Wahlberg, McIntyre will play a 43-year-old husband and father of three who wants to be taken seriously as an actor. Instead, his character is offered a late-night talk show host gig.

When asked about the show, Joey said, “I lucked out. What are the chances of me being cast as a character named Joey McIntyre?” Donnie added, “I’ve worked with Joey since we were kids, but seeing all of his many talents come together in this show – I’ve never been more excited.”
