Corey Feldman was starting to wish he hadn’t gone for it on the TODAY show on Friday, when the actor-turned-singer received a wave of unbearably cruel backlash on social media for his performance of his new single.

Feldman’s “Go 4 It” performance may have come off as a bit theatrical and bizarre to the typical TODAY show viewer, but anyone who has followed his music career at all knows that this genre of music isn’t new for the singer. And as for those MJ moves, Corey has been imitating his hero Michael Jackson on the dance floor every since he was a lost boy.

Still, people couldn’t cope with their favorite 80’s child star donning a black hooded cloak while fronting an all-girls band dubbed “Corey’s Angels.”

The feeling was mutual For Corey, as he couldn’t cope with the hatred coming his way. In a since-deleted Facebook Live post, Corey said that he was terrified to get out of bed after his performance on the TODAY show went viral. “We just wanted to tell everybody that it’s been really painful,” he shared. “We put ourselves out there, and we did the best that we could. And, I’ve never had such mean things said about me. Like constantly.”

“All we can say is that we tried really hard,” he said. “Because we love our fans and we just wanted to give them the best show that we could. But we don’t deserve … these things that are said about us are awful.”

After his performance went viral for all the wrong reasons, Feldman’s fans took to Twitter to show their support, including a music industry giant you may have heard of.

In a sweet post on Sunday, P!nk showed her support for Corey Feldman, who thanked her for her public endorsement. In his reply, Feldman also called P!nk a wonderful artist, activist, and overall human.

P!nk isn’t the only musician who is standing up for Corey. Although he didn’t make a statement about Corey on social media, Snoop Dogg clearly has his back, as he is featured on the original recording of “Go 4 It.”
