Demi Lovato’s new song “Commander in Chief” takes aim at President Trump, calling into question POTUS’ character and integrity.

“Commander in Chief” is ripe with condemnation for Trump. Demi subtly challenges the President’s handling of the coronavirus and claims a level of hypocrisy. “We're in a state of crisis, people are dying," she sings.

“While you line your pockets deep Commander in chief, how does it feel to still be able to breathe? Be able to breathe…”

Lovato uses her searing prose to warn the Commander in Chief of karma. "Were you ever taught when you were young… If you mess with things selfishly, they’re bound to come undone?”

The “OK Not To Be OK” singer told CNN in a recent interview she yearned to speak with Trump personally and vent her frustrations about his decisions while in office. Instead, she used her voice to disapprove of his handling of COVID-19 and racial justice protests across the country.

“There’s been so many times where I wanted to write the president a letter or sit down and ask him questions.,” she told the news network. “And then I thought, ‘I don’t really want to do that.’ One way that I could do that is writing a song.”

Demi hopes her critical message will not only reach President Trump, but encourage her fans to vote in the November 3 general election. “It’s so important our voices are heard. Whether you’re a Republican, or Democrat, just get out and vote. “

Lovato is also using her voice to support other important causes in the United States. During a National Coming Out Day conversation with Queer Eye’s Tan France, the singer recalls knowing she was queer after watching Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the famous kissing scene from the 1999 film Cruel Intentions.

“It was definitely when I was young and should not have been watching 'Cruel Intentions,' but I did and it was that scene where they made out on the park lawn,” she told Tan. “I was just like, ‘Oh, wait a minute — I really like that, I wanna try it.’”
