A scary situation developed overnight

August 11, 2020

A scary situation unfolded on Instagram as actor LaKeith Stanfield shared a video that had fans and friends reaching out to make sure he was ok.

The video Stanfield post is now deleted, but showed the actor appearing to pour alcohol into a pill bottle. The label on the bottle was for carvedilol, a medication that’s used to treat high blood pressure.

“I like to be by myself because I can hurt myself and no one tells me to stop or fakes like they care,” the post was captioned.

Another video was captioned: “Reality is boring and moves too slow and no one is trustworthy,” while a separate video featured the pill bottle and a “bottoms up” caption.

Comedian Patton Oswalt took to Twitter asking people to help contact Stanfield directly and make sure he’s ok. “He’s posting stuff on IG that has me worried for his well-being,'' he wrote.

Fortunately, Stanfield’s publicists Platform PR took to Twitter overnight to reassure fans that the actor was doing alright.

“Everyone! LaKeith is well. Thank you for the concern. We have spoken to him. The love you all have is appreciated,” they wrote.

Stanfield addressed the situation on Instagram writing, “I’m ok everyone! I appreciate everyone checking in on me but I’m good. I’m not harming myself. Much love.”

Oswalt also expressed his relief upon hearing Stanfield was ok. “Just got confirmation Lakeith is okay. Sorry if I overreacted. Okay getting off Twitter for awhile. Text or DM someone you haven’t texted or DM’ed in awhile and tell them a cool memory you have about them,” he wrote.
