Dog on ice

This Feel Good Story comes from Odgen, New York about Police Sergeant, Travis Gray, saving a dog who had fallen through the ice.

According to WHEC, Sgt. Gray responded to a call around 2 am that a dog had fallen through the ice on the Erie Canal. He first called the fire department, but in the back of his head, he knew the dog was struggling.

Sgt. Gray made the decision to go out there and rescue the dog himself. And thankfully he acted when he did, because the dog likely wouldn't have survived.

Chief of Police, Christopher Mears, praised Sgt Gray. "To me, somebody who would put their safety in danger like that to go out and save an animal in distress says a lot about their character and I couldn't be more proud of him," Mears said.

The dog was reunited with his owner, all thanks to Sgt. Gray.
